Iron Horse Bar & Grill

admin February 14, 2012 0

A casual, friendly atmosphere with delicious food at reasonable prices

Sisters Fran and Patty opened the Iron Horse Bar & Grill February 21st, 2011. Coming up on their first year anniversary these ladies are following their dream in Downtown Oxnard.

Patty’s dream had always been to follow her sweet tooth and run her own bakery. For many years, she had worked for a well-known, local chiropractor, but eventually made her way back to her family roots in the restaurant industry as a Pastry Chef for Tortuga in late 2010. When presented with the opportunity to purchase the restaurant location, she seized the moment with her sister Fran, a retired nurse.

Their goal was to create a casual, friendly atmosphere with delicious food at reasonable prices. This, they have definitely succeeded at!

The menu with a Southwest flavor features a nice mix of charbroiled burgers, savory sandwiches and authentic Mexican food using generations-old family recipes. They are home of the famous “Double Barrel Burger” “Panhead Pastrami Sandwich” and “Vigilante Burger” which featured Angus beef with high-grade pastrami piled on top.

The most frequently ordered item is the “Tombstone Tacos” from an old family recipe that dates back to the 1940’s which Patty still makes by hand daily. It’s these type of home-cooked entrees and old-fashioned hospitality that bring people back again and again to Iron Horse.

Just grabbing a drink and appetizer? You’ll be delighted to try their “People’s Choice” award-winning salsa. They serve 22oz. beers and a selection of over 20 bottled beers and wines.

Looking for a great place to dine with the little ones? Iron Horse offers a complete kids menu and a family friendly environment all can enjoy.

Weekends feature live entertainment such as local bands and karaoke. You can even bring the kids to enjoy the fun up until 10pm.

The restaurant (previously occupied by Tortuga) is located in beautiful Downtown Oxnard (next door to Sugar Beets). Come on down to enjoy the old family traditions with a little something for everyone at the Iron Horse Bar & Grill.
